What to Think About When You're Designing Your Landscape

There are so many millions of plants that you could use in your garden. But they fall under different categories. So when you're designing your landscape, you want to make sure that you design your garden for the plants that you will enjoy and that will look good in your landscape. First of all, you want to have trees in your landscape. If you have a small city lot, you want to make sure that you don't select large trees that are going to grow 40 feet tall and 40 feet wide. You'll want to select smaller trees such as Crape Myrtles, Maples or Lilacs. If you have a larger property, go with the larger trees. Next you will want to select your shrubs. Azaleas, Boxwoods, Camellias, and maybe even an assortment of some smaller ornamental grasses. The next step would be to select annuals and perennials. Perennials are plants that come back year after year. Annuals have a season span of about 6-8 months. In Lafayette, Louisiana we have two major planting seasons for annuals. Spring and fall.  Once you have all of your plants selected you'll be able to enjoy your landscape all year round.
